Corporate Guarantee holds road safety seminar
In an aim to address the rising number of fatalities caused by road crash, Corporate Guarantee (CG), in partnership with the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) Corporation, hosted a road safety seminar at the Carworld Training Center over the weekend.
The seminar, which gathered valued customers of CG, Laus Group of Companies (LGC) employees and other stakeholders, is also in time for the forthcoming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day when Filipinos are expected to travel back home, or go on vacation and out-of-town with families.
According to NLEx Corporation Assistant Manager for Environment, Safety and Health Dave Bautista, road crash is the fifth leading cause of deaths in the Philippines with at least 31 cases reported daily.
“Everyone is highly vulnerable to a road crash. You can be a victim regardless if you are the driver, passenger or even a pedestrian just minding your own thing on the designated sidewalk,” Bautista said.
The most effective armor against road crash, Bautista said, is awareness on road safety, and the practice of defensive driving.
He also cited the Blowbagets technique, which stands for battery, lights, oil, water, brake, air, gas, engine, tires and self, or the things that must be checked before one gets on the road.
“There is no such thing as ‘road accident.’ There is also somebody who is accountable for a road crash because of ignorance but we can always avoid this if everyone is knowledgeable of the rules on the streets and of driving,” he said.
In line with this, Bautista lauded the LausGroup and CG for hosting such “highly-needed and life-saving” seminar for its customers, employees and friends.
“This may seem a little act, some of the attendees may have even attended this because they were required by the company but let us try to keep in mind that by doing this, we can save lots of human lives,” he said.
